{wedding} balloons…

Balloons are a fun addition to any wedding or engagement celebration.

Oversized balloons with elegant ribbons can help tie in theme colors and lighten up a dull space.

Large balloons also work well in couple pictures to create perspective outdoors.

Foil balloons are perfect for adding a personalized touch. Use your initials or wedding date in a engagement photo shoot and use them for save-the dates.

Having a photo booth at your celebration? Incorporate balloons into your backdrop or props.

{wedding wednesday} blogs…

I often get asked what blogs I followed for inspiration when planning our wedding. If you are elbow deep in planning, you know just how many wedding blogs there are out there! To help wade you through the load, here are some of my favourites:

Style Me Pretty: A pretty obvious choice as it is one of the most popular wedding blogs. I loved SMP because they had tons of inspiration pictures and have categorized them well to help narrow down your searches.

The Collection Event Studio: The go-to resource for California wine country weddings. I met the founders of The Collection last year while doing some contributor writing pieces for them and they definitely know their stuff!

Oh So Beautiful Paper: Great inspiration for wedding invitations, save the dates and other paper goods needed for the day of.

100 Layer Cake: Another fairly popular blog, similar to SMP but has a great DIY and Marketplace section.

Snippet & Ink: Another daily inspiration blog filled with colour boards, real weddings and themes.

{wedding wednesday} celebrating love…

We flew to Toronto last weekend to celebrate my sister’s recent engagement. She organized a lovely brunch at Archeo in the historic distillery district to bring together close family for the occasion.

We started with a champagne toast and some quick speeches from the husband and wife to-be.

Four beautiful, short centerpieces were placed along the tables. She chose delicate colours like lilac, pinks and whites in seasonal flowers. As a fun and delicious place card, macarons matching the centerpieces were placed on each plate.

Because Archeo is located in the distillery district, it is outfitted with original exposed brick and wood beams finishes. It had an authentic, rustic feel but was warmed up through lighting and modern design elements. Archeo is connected to its sister restaurant The Boiler House where the brunch was served. The two story tall bar and open concept were beautiful.

The food was fantastic but I was too busy eating to take pics. Can you believe that? Me being too busy to take pictures?! Standouts were definitely the custard tart and chocolate mousse desserts.

All in all, it was a perfect afternoon. Lots of laughs and love in the room.

{wedding wednesday} our favours…

We wanted our wedding favours to be something fun and unique. My husband is English and I am half Indian/half Trinidadian and we were looking for something that combined our cultures.

Just as we were narrowing down ideas, one of my favourite blogs Lovely Package posted these amazing tea boxes from The Grain- a graphic design firm in Australia. I am a big fan of modern, cartoon vector art and loved the distinguishing features used to mark each culture.

I took a chance and reached out to The Grain via email and suprisingly got an instant reply from Tabatha. We went back and forth a bit and she ended up creating custom designs just for our wedding! It was the nicest gesture I have ever received from a stranger, let alone a stranger all the way across the planet.

It was a laborious process and we could NOT have done it without the help of our family. From cutting intricate lines, scoring edges, stuffing tea, and packaging everything up together, it ended up being a lot more time consuming than we had planned. My sisters were up until the wee hours of the night cutting boxes, my Mom was inhaling chai tea by the mouthful and lots of visiting aunts and uncles kept us company while we plowed through the project.

A BIG thank you to Tabatha from The Grain. We appreciate your kindness in making our special day that much more special.
