{food} nadège macarons…

Every time I go back to Toronto I always make sure to stop in at Nadège Patisserie on Queen West to get my salted caramel macaron fix. I was lucky enough to accompany my bride-to-be sister for a macaron tasting there a couple of weeks ago. She was picking out some flavours as a macaron gift to guests at her upcoming engagement brunch. We had so much fun trying flavours- cappuccino, cotton candy, pistachio, vanilla, chocolate and of course my fave salted caramel.

The staff at Nadège were great at helping us choose according to the brunch’s decor theme colours and even custom dyed macaron shells! They also packaged and added my sister’s place card stickers for no additional charge, making her day MUCH easier. If you are in the Toronto area and are looking for macarons or any other French pastries for an event, Nadège is your place.

{wedding wednesday} celebrating love…

We flew to Toronto last weekend to celebrate my sister’s recent engagement. She organized a lovely brunch at Archeo in the historic distillery district to bring together close family for the occasion.

We started with a champagne toast and some quick speeches from the husband and wife to-be.

Four beautiful, short centerpieces were placed along the tables. She chose delicate colours like lilac, pinks and whites in seasonal flowers. As a fun and delicious place card, macarons matching the centerpieces were placed on each plate.

Because Archeo is located in the distillery district, it is outfitted with original exposed brick and wood beams finishes. It had an authentic, rustic feel but was warmed up through lighting and modern design elements. Archeo is connected to its sister restaurant The Boiler House where the brunch was served. The two story tall bar and open concept were beautiful.

The food was fantastic but I was too busy eating to take pics. Can you believe that? Me being too busy to take pictures?! Standouts were definitely the custard tart and chocolate mousse desserts.

All in all, it was a perfect afternoon. Lots of laughs and love in the room.

{travel} back in the t-dot…

After five days of work in Washington DC, I am in Toronto! I was supposed to be spending two days in Montreal, but after a cancelled flight redirected me through Toronto I decided to spend the extra days here.

As usual, I am on the hunt finding new places in my old hood Queen West and rediscovering some old favourites. I love being a stranger in a city I used to know so well… it makes the experience that much more fun.

{life} toronto time…

After a ridiculous flight (combination of no sleep, lost bag and horrible Air Canada customer service) I am in Toronto!

I can’t wait to rediscover my old neighbourhood Queen Street West again and take it all in like it’s the first time. Hoping to hit up favourites like Heel Boy, Nadege, The Paper Place, Dark Horse and also check out what is new in the hood.
