We were given a bottle of vintage 2002 Dom Perignon as a wedding gift that was meant to be drunk on our first anniversary. Our anniversary was the day after we returned from our whirlwind Italy trip, so we postponed drinking it until we were in the right mood.
As the sun was setting over San Francisco, we popped the cork and toasted to an amazing first year. Accompanied by some smoked gouda, triple creme brie and a fresh Acme French baguette, we sipped our champagne and recounted our favourite memories from the wedding. I never wanted the moment to end.
I often get asked what blogs I followed for inspiration when planning our wedding. If you are elbow deep in planning, you know just how many wedding blogs there are out there! To help wade you through the load, here are some of my favourites:
Style Me Pretty: A pretty obvious choice as it is one of the most popular wedding blogs. I loved SMP because they had tons of inspiration pictures and have categorized them well to help narrow down your searches.
The Collection Event Studio: The go-to resource for California wine country weddings. I met the founders of The Collection last year while doing some contributor writing pieces for them and they definitely know their stuff!
Oh So Beautiful Paper: Great inspiration for wedding invitations, save the dates and other paper goods needed for the day of.
100 Layer Cake: Another fairly popular blog, similar to SMP but has a great DIY and Marketplace section.
Snippet & Ink: Another daily inspiration blog filled with colour boards, real weddings and themes.
Every time I go back to Toronto I always make sure to stop in at Nadège Patisserie on Queen West to get my salted caramel macaron fix. I was lucky enough to accompany my bride-to-be sister for a macaron tasting there a couple of weeks ago. She was picking out some flavours as a macaron gift to guests at her upcoming engagement brunch. We had so much fun trying flavours- cappuccino, cotton candy, pistachio, vanilla, chocolate and of course my fave salted caramel.
The staff at Nadège were great at helping us choose according to the brunch’s decor theme colours and even custom dyed macaron shells! They also packaged and added my sister’s place card stickers for no additional charge, making her day MUCH easier. If you are in the Toronto area and are looking for macarons or any other French pastries for an event, Nadège is your place.
